Carli captures dogs as they’re shaking off water, but it’s their expressions that make this series truly priceless. As she describes, they’re “images of man’s best friend caught in contortion: hair wild, eyes darting, ears and jowls flopping every which way.”

While working in Sri Lanka, BBC documentary filmmaker Paul Williams nursed a baby squirrel after it got separated by its mother.
Although Williams tried to return the squirrel by leaving it in a tree, the adorable little critter still remained there the next morning.

The pumps in each photo typify the multitudes of identical pumps strewn across the American landscape, endlessly dipping and rising like thirsty birds. To Henner, an aerial perspective allows for a sort of super-vision and a view of the larger implications of industry.

“This picture was taken after the growth by CVD of silicon nanowires on a copper foil with gold on top. When I saw it I remembered the perturbation caused by sun storms on magnetic field of the earth. These nanowires will be used to manufacture anodes of ion-Li batteries,” says photographer Isidoro Barriga (magnification: 20,000x).
